The House Democrats are ALL arguing to separate the legislation that would suspend Congress’ paychecks from H.R. 1 — legislation that’s NOT going to pass.
The GOP – Teaparty members are completely ignoring that appeal… if there’s a shutdown, they want their federal paychecks! Are you listening, teabaggers?

And the GOP – Teaparty passed their silly, symbolic Government Shutdown Prevention Act bill. On April Fool’s Day, no less:
With only a week until the short-term Continuing Resolution expires, the House of Representatives passed 221 – 202, a measure that asks the Senate to reconsider HR1, the long term fiscal 2011 spending bill that the House passed in February.
Here’s the really phoney part:
The bill would also prohibit lawmakers and the president from receiving a salary if the government shuts down.
See what they did there? They’ll get paid NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.
